Kris Lucander is a well sought after Double and Electric Bassist with over 40 years of a variety of performance experience. He has played in many big bands like the Worcester Jazz Orchestra, several small jazz groups, and he leads his own jazz trio. His 3rd and most recent original jazz recording is a double CD entitled “32-22” which features his compositions in a variety of groups and is available on streaming sites. In the classical world he has performed with the Thayer Symphony and Gateway City Orchestras, the Odyssey Cruise Ship, and has been in a multitude of musical theater productions from Boston and throughout New England. He has recorded for several area singer-songwriters including Mark Fisher and The Rafters, and also has been in several wedding/dance bands as well as the local classic rock favorite “Mr. Strickland”, as well as a Billy Joel tribute band. Lucander is also a veteran teacher of 32 years in the Ashburnham Westminster Regional School District as a music teacher, concert band and jazz band director, and the chorus director. He is married and has a son (both are teachers) and he enjoys his Finnish heritage, and built his own Finnish Sauna, so be sure to pronounce it right! (sow-na)
